The victim was identified as Lucas García, a 38-year-old man who, according to police, was crossing the Union Avenue crosswalk at the northbound on-ramp to Route 10 when he was struck just before 6:00 a.m.

At the time of the accident, the bus was not carrying students, and the driver remained at the scene, cooperating with officers who cordoned off the area and responded to the emergency.

The spokesperson for First Student Inc., the company that owns the bus, confirmed they are “fully cooperating” with the police investigation. The driver has been temporarily removed from duty while authorities determine responsibility — a “standard procedure,” according to the company.
